Tool Time's rate is $115.00 per hour. This rate is competitive with other licensed and insured Handyman businesses. We carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance, workmen's compensation insurance and we have a General Contractors license. Why is liability insurance important? It protects you in the event that the handyman causes damage to your house while making repairs or improvements. Why is workmen's compensation insurance important? It protects you in the event that the handyman gets hurt on the job. Why is a contractors license important? By state law a handyman without a contractors license cannot perform jobs greater than $500 including the cost of the materials. A handyman without a contractors license can not get liability insurance to cover jobs that are greater than $500. If an unlicensed handyman causes damage to your house, your insurance company will not cover the repair costs if they can prove that the individual that made the repairs was unlicensed or the repairs exceeded $500. While it may seem attractive to hire an unlicensed and uninsured handyman because of the lower rate, the risks far out weigh the benefits.
